Outsider Academy is an archive of guerrilla thought. It is neither an academic journal, nor a literary magazine, but a marginal space for work that doesn’t fit in, for aphorisms, riffs, and collisions. Outsider Academy is a free resource for educators, students, writers, artists, autodidacts, and critical thinkers.
It was created by writer and educator James Reich. Reich the author of four novels, most recently, of Soft Invasions (2018, Anti-Oedipus Press), Mistah Kurtz! A Prelude to Heart of Darkness (2016, Anti-Oedipus Press), Bombshell (2013, Soft Skull Press), and I, Judas (2011, Soft Skull Press). He is a former literature department chair, a 2017 Pushcart Prize nominee, the author of “Inner Space Odyssey: Suburban Spacemen and the Cults of Catastrophe” for the 1960s volume of Bloomsbury’s Decades series, “Hello, Baudrillard” and “A Giant Trilobite in the Desert” for the 2015 and 2016 volumes of Deep Ends: The J.G. Ballard Anthology (The Terminal Press). His work is also published by Salon, The Rumpus, Entropy, International Times, and elsewhere. He is the founder and publishing editor Stalking Horse Press.
